Earlier this month Apple released a statement that it will no longer be including a YouTube app beginning with iOS 6 due to expiration of licensing agreement it had with YouTube that had allowed it to create its own custom app. The Google company has decided to create its own iOS app in order to deliver advertising on mobile devices, something it would not have been able to do with Apple’s version of the app.
YouTube calls these in-stream video ads TrueView and it has begun delivering them on mobile devices through its Android app. It made the announcement a week ago via a blog post explaining its intentions with TrueView, providing an example of how it works.
