Holding 22% of the tablet market, Amazon’s Kindle Fire is the most popular Android tablet in the US market but as far as Google is concerned, it doesn’t count because the Android version used in the tablet has been stripped of all references and links to Google.
Amazon has an event on September 6 which many had speculated that it will be about Kindle, but now that the Fire has been pulled off the market and supply of other Kindle tablets diminishing, it’s a foregone conclusion that Amazon will be announcing new versions of its ebook readers and tablet.
Amazon may boast the number two spot in the US for tablets but internationally it has minimal presence, which it plans to change. The Amazon Appstore went live in several European countries today leading many to belief that international launch of the Kindle Fire is imminent.
